What is Hair Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy means delivering a small amount of a solution into the upper layers of the skin. For hair, the solution can contain vitamins, minerals, amino acids and similar ingredients chosen by the doctor, and is placed in the scalp with many tiny injections or with a microneedling device.

Scalp microneedling uses very fine needles to make tiny channels in the scalp. This is thought to stimulate the scalp and help a solution or prescribed lotion reach the skin.

It is used for early thinning and for hair fall that continues after the cause has been treated. The cause is looked for first, with a scalp examination and blood tests for iron and ferritin, thyroid, vitamin D and hormones where relevant, and mesotherapy works alongside prescribed treatment, not instead of it.

Used for

What it can help with

  • No blood draw

Suits people who prefer not to give blood.

  • Short sessions

About half an hour, with little downtime.

  • Flexible

The doctor chooses the solution and method for your scalp.

  • Works with other care

Combined with PRP, GFC or prescribed lotions.

  • Cause found first

Blood tests and a scalp check come before the procedure.

How does it work?

  1. Cleansing

The scalp is cleaned so that no oil, product or dirt is carried into the skin.

  2. Delivery

The solution is placed with tiny injections or applied during scalp microneedling.

  3. Stimulation

The tiny punctures are thought to stimulate the scalp and its blood supply.

  4. Nourishment

The ingredients are meant to supply the hair roots with what the doctor has chosen for them.

  5. Course

Sessions are repeated every few weeks, because hair responds slowly.

What happens during a session?

  1. Assessment

The doctor examines the scalp, reviews your blood tests and allergies, and chooses the solution and the method.

  2. Cleansing

The scalp is cleaned, and numbing cream is used if you want it.

  3. Treatment

Microinjections or microneedling place the solution across the thinning areas, in about 20 to 30 minutes.

  4. Finishing

A soothing product may be applied. You can return to your day, and the doctor tells you when to wash your hair.

Who is a good candidate?

  • Early thinning or reduced hair density
  • Hair fall after illness, delivery or stress, once the cause is treated
  • People who want an option without a blood draw
  • Those who want to add to PRP, GFC or prescribed treatment
  • Scalps where prescribed lotions need help to reach the skin

Is hair mesotherapy safe for Indian skin?

Mesotherapy and microneedling are done on the scalp, with no light or heat, so scalp and skin colour do not limit them. The doctor checks for dandruff, scalp infection and allergies before starting, and chooses a needle depth that suits your scalp. People with a tendency to keloids should tell the doctor, because needling can leave raised marks in them.

Who should delay or avoid it?

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • An active infection, cold sore or open wound on the area
  • Allergy to any ingredient in the solution
  • A tendency to form keloids or thick scars
  • Blood thinners or a bleeding disorder (tell the doctor)
  • Active scalp psoriasis or eczema in the area (treat first)

The doctor checks your medicines and health before any procedure and may advise waiting or a different treatment.

Results: what to expect

Hair changes slowly, so results are judged over months. Some people notice less shedding and thicker-looking hair; others notice little. The result depends on the cause of the hair loss, how early it is treated and whether you use the prescribed treatment as well. The doctor reviews progress at each visit and changes the plan if it is not helping.

Does it hurt?

Microinjections feel like many small pricks, and microneedling like a light scratching or roller. Numbing cream can be applied beforehand. Most people find it mild.

  • The solution the doctor chooses.
  • The method: microinjections or scalp microneedling.

Hair Mesotherapy: questions

What is in the solution?

The doctor tells you the ingredients and why they are chosen before starting. Usually these are vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Ask if you have any allergy.

Is mesotherapy proven to regrow hair?

Research is limited, and results vary by solution and by person. It is offered as a supportive treatment, not as a stand-alone answer to hair loss.

Are these the same as branded hair peptide treatments?

Several ready-made peptide and growth-factor solutions are sold by clinics. The doctor chooses the solution, tells you what is in it and what it costs before starting.

What is the difference between mesotherapy and microneedling?

Mesotherapy places a solution into the scalp. Microneedling makes tiny channels that stimulate the scalp, and may help a solution reach it. They can be done together.

Will I still need medicines?

Usually yes. Mesotherapy is added to prescribed treatment such as minoxidil or finasteride where the doctor advises them, not used instead of it.

Why are blood tests done first?

Low iron or ferritin, thyroid trouble, low vitamin D and hormone changes can cause hair fall. These need treating first.

Can I do scalp microneedling at home?

Home rollers risk infection and scalp damage if used wrongly. Treatment in the clinic uses sterile, single-use needles.

Can I have it with dandruff?

Dandruff or an inflamed scalp is treated first, because needling over active inflammation can make it worse.

Do I need a consultation before a treatment?

Yes. Every treatment starts with a consultation. The doctor examines you and advises a procedure only if it suits you; many can be done the same day.
