What is Hydra Facial?

A hydra facial, medically called hydradermabrasion, is a multi-step facial done with a single handpiece. It cleanses the skin, gently exfoliates, lifts out blackheads and debris by suction, and then pushes hydrating serums into the surface of the skin.

It is aimed at dull, dehydrated and congested skin, and it is mild enough for many people who cannot take a scrub or a peel. It is not a treatment for deep scars, strong pigmentation or severe acne.

Used for

What it can help with

  • Deep cleansing

Draws oil and debris out of pores without a scrub.

  • Hydration

Serums go onto freshly cleansed skin.

  • No downtime

You can go back to work or an event the same day.

  • Gentle

Suits many skin types, including sensitive skin.

  • Quick

A full session fits in an hour.

How does it work?

  1. Cleanse

The handpiece cleanses the surface of the skin with a flowing solution.

  2. Exfoliate

A mild exfoliating solution loosens dead cells without scrubbing the skin.

  3. Extract

Gentle suction draws oil, dirt and blackheads out of the pores.

  4. Hydrate

Serums chosen for your skin are applied and worked into the surface using the handpiece.

  5. Protect

A calming cream and sunscreen finish the session.

What happens during a session?

  1. Skin check

The doctor looks at your skin and chooses the serums and the settings.

  2. Cleanse

The handpiece cleanses and gently exfoliates the skin.

  3. Extraction

Suction clears the pores, with extra time on the nose and chin where they are congested.

  4. Serum infusion

Hydrating serums are applied with the handpiece.

  5. Finish

A calming cream and sunscreen go on. You can leave straight away.

Who is a good candidate?

  • Dull, dehydrated skin
  • Blackheads and congested pores
  • Rough texture
  • Oily skin that needs regular cleansing
  • Skin too sensitive for a scrub or a peel
  • A quick refresh before an event

Is hydra facial safe for Indian skin?

A hydra facial is not heat-based and does not use strong acids or hard scrubbing, so it carries a low risk of pigmentation in darker skin. The doctor picks the serums for your skin type and avoids it on irritated or sunburnt skin. As with any facial, sunscreen afterwards matters.

Who should delay or avoid it?

  • An active infection, cold sore or open wound on the area
  • Active, inflamed or cystic acne on the area
  • Sunburn or a fresh tan on the area
  • Rosacea flare, eczema flare or very broken skin
  • A recent peel or laser on the area (the doctor tells you how long to wait)

The doctor checks your medicines and health before any procedure and may advise waiting or a different treatment.

Results: what to expect

Skin usually looks cleaner, smoother and more hydrated straight after the session, and pores look clearer. The look settles over a day or two and fades over the following weeks, so it is most useful as a regular visit with a good home-care routine. It does not replace treatment for scars, strong pigmentation or acne.

Does it hurt?

It is a comfortable treatment. Suction feels like a light tugging, and areas with blackheads can feel slightly more tender. The doctor eases the pressure if you ask.

Hydra Facial cost in Chennai

The cost depends on your skin and your plan. What decides it:

  • The steps and serums included in the session.
  • Your skin concern and what it needs.

Hydra Facial: questions

Is a hydra facial better than a normal facial?

It does more deep cleansing and extraction in one visit, but it is still a facial. For acne, marks or tone, a peel or other treatment is more useful. See the comparison above.

Can I have it with pimples?

Mild breakouts are fine. With inflamed or painful pimples, suction and pressure can irritate the skin, so the doctor treats the acne first.

How often can I have it?

Usually every four weeks. The doctor may change this if you are also having peels or other treatments.

Will it help dark spots?

Only slightly. Dark spots need peels, creams or a laser. A hydra facial improves hydration and clarity.

Can I wear make-up afterwards?

Yes, after a few hours, once the skin has settled. Many people leave it for the day.

Can men have it?

Yes. It suits oily skin and blackheads in men too, and it is gentle on skin that shaving has irritated.

Is it safe in pregnancy?

The treatment itself is gentle, but serums are chosen with care. Tell the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Does it help open pores?

It clears the oil and debris that make pores look larger. Pore size itself does not change much. Microneedling or peels can help texture further.

Can I have it before a wedding or event?

Yes. Book it a few days ahead so any redness settles, and do not try anything new on the day itself.

Do I need a consultation before a treatment?

Yes. Every treatment starts with a consultation. The doctor examines you and advises a procedure only if it suits you; many can be done the same day.
