What is Carbon Laser Peel?
A carbon laser peel is a short laser facial. A thin layer of medical-grade carbon lotion is spread over the skin and left for a few minutes. It sinks into the pores and sticks to dead skin and oil.
A laser is then passed over the face. The carbon absorbs the light, heats up and is lifted off the skin together with the oil, dirt and top layer of dead cells. Despite the name, nothing is left on the skin to peel or flake.
The gentle heat also tightens the skin a little and calms oil glands, which is why it is used for oily skin and visible pores.
Used for
What it can help with
- No downtime
Most people go straight back to work or a function.
- Quick
About half an hour from start to finish.
- Targets oil and pores
Helps oily skin and open pores look less obvious.
- Fresher skin
Removes dead cells and dirt from the surface.
- Gentle on skin
Superficial and low in energy, so it is suited to repeated sessions.
How does it work?
- Carbon layer
A thin carbon lotion settles into pores and onto the skin surface.
- First pass
A low-energy laser warms the carbon so it bonds with oil and dead skin.
- Second pass
A stronger pass vaporises the carbon and carries oil, debris and dead cells away.
- Gentle heat
Mild warming of the upper skin tones it and settles oil production for a while.
- Repeat
A course of sessions keeps pores clearer and skin fresher for longer.
What happens during a session?
- Assessment
The doctor checks your skin type, acne, medicines and recent treatments, and decides if the peel is right for you.
- Cleanse and carbon
Your face is cleansed and a thin layer of carbon is applied and left for a few minutes.
- Laser
Two laser passes are made, the first to warm the carbon and the second to lift it off. You and the team wear protective eyewear.
- Soothing
The skin is cleansed again and a moisturiser and sunscreen are applied. The whole visit takes about 30 minutes.
Who is a good candidate?
- Oily skin with a shine through the day
- Open pores and blackheads
- Dull, tired-looking skin
- Mild acne, alongside the doctor's medical treatment
- An event or wedding, since there is no downtime
- Rough texture on the face
Is carbon laser peel safe for Indian skin?
Carbon laser peel works on the surface and uses low energy, so it is generally well tolerated by Indian skin. The doctor still adjusts the settings to your skin tone, avoids treating a fresh tan or sunburn and may do a test spot where advised. Sun protection afterwards keeps the skin evenly toned.
Who should delay or avoid it?
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Isotretinoin (acne tablets) in the last six months
- An active infection, cold sore or open wound on the area
- A fresh tan or sunburn on the area
- Active, inflamed or cystic acne on the area (treat the acne first)
- Photosensitising medicines or a history of light-triggered rashes (tell the doctor)
The doctor checks your medicines and health before any procedure and may advise waiting or a different treatment.

Results: what to expect
Skin often looks cleaner and fresher straight away, with less visible oil and smaller-looking pores in the days after. Because oil production and pores are partly set by your skin type and hormones, the effect is gradual over the course and fades without maintenance. Results vary from person to person, and the doctor reviews your skin at each visit.
Does it hurt?
Most people feel a light tingling or warm pinpricks as the laser lifts the carbon. It is usually comfortable and needs no numbing. The skin may feel slightly tight or warm afterwards.
Carbon Laser Peel cost in Chennai
The cost depends on your skin and your plan. What decides it:
- The number of sessions in your plan.
- Whether you add a facial or another treatment in the same visit.
- Whether the neck or other areas are treated along with the face.
- Maintenance sessions after the first course.

Carbon Laser Peel: questions
Is it the same as a chemical peel?
No. Nothing is left on the skin to peel it. The carbon is lifted off by the laser during the session, so there is usually no flaking.
Does it make pores smaller?
Pore size is mostly set by genes and oil production. The peel cleans out pores and calms oil for a while, so they look smaller, but they do not close for good.
Can it treat acne?
It can help mild acne and the oiliness that goes with it, alongside medicines. Active, inflamed or cystic acne needs medical treatment first.
Can I do it before a wedding or event?
Yes. There is no downtime, so it is often done a few days before an event. Starting a course a month or two earlier gives a better effect.
Can I wear make-up afterwards?
It is better to wait until the next day, to let the skin settle. If you must, use light mineral make-up and sunscreen.
Can men have it?
Yes. It is popular with men for oily skin, blackheads and shine. The doctor adjusts the settings for beard areas.
Does it hurt the eyes?
No. Protective eyewear is worn throughout, and the area directly around the eyes is not treated.
How often can I have it?
Usually every two to three weeks during the course, then every few months. The doctor sets the gap that suits your skin.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Often yes, such as a medifacial or microneedling on a different day. The doctor plans the order so that the skin is not over-treated.
Do I need a consultation before a treatment?
Yes. Every treatment starts with a consultation. The doctor examines you and advises a procedure only if it suits you; many can be done the same day.
