What is Skin Booster Injections?

Skin boosters are light, injectable forms of hyaluronic acid, the same water-holding molecule used in fillers but in a thinner gel. They are placed in many tiny droplets just under the skin surface across the whole area, not in one place.

Their job is skin quality, not shape. They aim to improve hydration, softness and fine lines. They do not add volume, lift sagging skin or change the shape of the face the way a filler does.

Some boosters also contain other ingredients such as amino acids or vitamins, which the doctor may discuss if suitable.

Used for

What it can help with

  • Deep hydration

Water-holding gel inside the skin, not only on top.

  • Subtle glow

    Smoother, softer-looking skin.

  • Fine lines

May soften fine lines and crepey areas.

  • No change in shape

Looks like you, with better skin.

  • Several areas

    Face, neck, chest and hands.

Areas we treat

  • FaceCheeks, forehead and around the eyes for overall hydration.
  • Under-eyeFor crepey skin; a lighter product and a careful technique are used.
  • NeckFor fine horizontal neck lines and crepiness.
  • Chest (décolletage)For sun-damaged, crinkled skin.
  • Backs of the handsFor thin, ageing skin where veins show.

How does it work?

  1. Droplets

A fine needle or cannula places many small droplets of hyaluronic acid into the upper layers of the skin.

  2. Water holding

Hyaluronic acid binds water, so the skin holds more moisture from within.

  3. Spread

Over the following days the gel spreads evenly through the skin and the small bumps settle.

  4. Skin response

The injury of the needle and the gel may encourage the skin's own repair, including collagen, over weeks.

  5. Maintenance

The gel breaks down gradually, so a repeat session keeps the effect.

What happens during a session?

  1. Assessment

The doctor examines your skin and agrees on the areas. Photographs are taken.

  2. Numbing

Numbing cream is applied for about 20 to 30 minutes.

  3. Injections

Many small injections are placed across the area, in a pattern chosen by the doctor.

  4. Cooling

The skin is cooled, cleaned and protected with sunscreen.

  5. Plan

You get aftercare instructions and a date for the next session.

Who is a good candidate?

  • Dry, dull or tired-looking skin that lacks glow
  • Fine lines on the face, neck, chest or backs of the hands
  • Rough or uneven skin texture
  • Crepey skin on the neck or under the eyes
  • Skin that has aged early from sun, pollution or smoking
  • Anyone wanting a skin-quality treatment rather than a change in shape

Is skin boosters safe for Indian skin?

Skin boosters work on hydration rather than on pigment, and are generally suitable for Indian skin. Indian skin can mark or bruise after any needle, so the doctor uses a fine needle or cannula, avoids active acne or infection, and plans your sessions around sun exposure. They are not a treatment for dark patches or melasma, but a better-hydrated skin barrier may help skin look smoother and more even.

Who should delay or avoid it?

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • An active infection, cold sore or open wound on the area
  • Active acne with pus-filled spots on the area
  • Allergy to hyaluronic acid or local anaesthetic
  • Active autoimmune disease or a tendency to severe allergy (discuss with the doctor)
  • Blood thinners or a bleeding disorder (tell the doctor)

The doctor checks your medicines and health before any procedure and may advise waiting or a different treatment.

Results: what to expect

Skin often feels smoother and looks more hydrated within a couple of weeks, with the glow building across the course. The change is subtle and natural, not a transformation of shape or deep lines. How much you notice depends on your starting skin, age and lifestyle. Sun protection and a good skincare routine help the result last.

Does it hurt?

With numbing cream most people feel a series of small pinpricks and mild pressure. The neck, forehead and areas near the bone feel sharper. Many people find it more tolerable than expected.

Skin Booster Injections: questions

Are skin boosters the same as fillers?

No. Both use hyaluronic acid, but boosters are thinner and aim to hydrate the skin. Fillers are thicker and add volume or shape.

Will skin boosters help dark circles or pigmentation?

They help the skin look hydrated and smoother, but they do not treat pigment. Dark circles and melasma need other treatment.

When will I see the glow?

Many people notice a change in one to two weeks, with more after the second session. The effect builds across the course.

Can I get a booster at the same time as other treatments?

Often yes. It pairs with anti-wrinkle injections, microneedling or HIFU, but the doctor spaces them to avoid too much on the skin at once.

Does it hurt more than filler?

There are more injection points, so it can feel busier, but each is small and numbing cream helps.

At what age should I start?

There is no fixed age. People often start when skin looks dry or dull, or early lines appear, often from the late twenties onward.

Can it be done on the neck and hands?

Yes. These areas age early and respond to hydration. The doctor chooses a suitable product.

Why does the skin get small bumps?

The gel is placed in tiny pockets under the skin. They settle as it spreads, usually within a day or two.

Is it safe if I have acne?

Not when there are active inflamed spots on the area. The doctor treats the acne first.

Do I need a consultation before a treatment?

Yes. Every treatment starts with a consultation. The doctor examines you and advises a procedure only if it suits you; many can be done the same day.
