Nail fungus
Online skin doctor for nail fungus
A thick, yellow or white, crumbly toenail or fingernail that lifts from the skin under it, often after years of sweaty shoes or wet work. Send photos and the skin doctor tells you whether it is fungus and what treatment fits.
₹299 for a chat consult.
- Dr. Rohini K replies within 30 minutes, day or night.
- Prescription in the chat and on WhatsApp, when one is right
- 48 hours of follow-up questions included
What to send the doctor
- Close photos of each affected nail, and of the skin between the toes.
- How many nails, for how long, and whether your hands are in water a lot.
- Diabetes, liver problems and the medicines you take, as nail tablets can interact.
- Treatments you have tried and for how long.
What the doctor looks for
- Fungus, or a look-alike such as nail psoriasis, an old injury or a nail lifting from damp.
- How many nails and how deep it goes, which decides between a nail lacquer and tablets.
- Athlete's foot alongside, which keeps reinfecting the nail.
- Whether tests are needed before tablets.
What the plan usually covers
- An antifungal nail lacquer for one or two mild nails.
- Tablets for more nails or deeper infection, with tests where they are needed.
- Treatment for athlete's foot, and how to keep feet and shoes dry.
- How long it takes: about six months for fingernails and a year or more for toenails.
The doctor decides what is right for you. A prescription is written only when one is appropriate.
When a chat is not enough
- Redness, swelling, pain or pus around a nail.
- Diabetes with a wound, colour change or swelling on the foot. See a doctor in person today.
Questions
- How long does nail fungus take to clear?
- Months, because nails grow slowly. A fingernail takes about six months to grow out, and a toenail a year or more.
- Can I use an antifungal skin cream on my nail?
- Skin creams do not get through the nail. Nail infections need a nail lacquer or tablets.
- Will nail fungus come back?
- It can. Treating athlete's foot, keeping feet dry, changing socks daily and not sharing nail clippers lower the chance.
- Who will I be speaking to?
- Dr. Rohini K (MBBS, IFAAM (Aesthetic Medicine), Fellowship in Cosmetic Dermatology), the skin and hair doctor on PingMeDoc™'s teleconsultation panel. Every skin and hair consult booked through Chamak goes to the skin doctor, day or night, with a reply usually within 30 minutes.
- What does it cost?
- ₹299 for a chat consult. Audio or video from ₹499. The price is shown before you pay and covers the written plan and 48 hours of follow-up questions in the same chat.
- Will I get a prescription?
- Only if the doctor finds one appropriate. When issued, it is a digital prescription sent in the chat and on WhatsApp, valid at any pharmacy.
- Where does the consult happen?
- Booking, payment and the chat run on www.pingmedoc.com, our teleconsultation site. You are asked for a phone number and a one-time code at payment, and nothing before that. Chamak and PingMeDoc are the same company.
