Pigmentation & dark spots

Online skin doctor for pigmentation, melasma and dark spots

Dark patches on the cheeks, marks left by pimples, tan that will not go, or darker skin on the neck. Send photos and the doctor tells you what kind of pigmentation it is, because each kind fades differently.

₹299 for a chat consult.

  • Dr. Rohini K replies within 30 minutes, day or night.
  • Prescription in the chat and on WhatsApp, when one is right
  • 48 hours of follow-up questions included

What to send the doctor

  1. Photos in daylight, without make-up: the front of your face and each side.
  2. A close photo of the darkest patch, and of the neck or underarms if they are darker.
  3. Every cream you have used on it, including any from a parlour or without a label.
  4. Pregnancy, birth-control pills, thyroid problems, and how much time you spend in the sun.

What the doctor looks for

  • Melasma, the patches on the cheeks and forehead that sun and hormones make worse.
  • Marks left by acne or a rash, which fade with time and the right care.
  • Pigmentation caused by steroid or unlabelled creams.
  • Darker skin on the neck and underarms, which can be linked to blood sugar.

What the plan usually covers

  • The sunscreen to use every day, and how much. Without it nothing else works.
  • Treatments that fade pigment, with which ones to use together and which apart.
  • A prescription cream where one is right, with how long to use it safely.
  • A blood sugar test when the neck or underarms are darker.
  • Realistic timing: most pigmentation takes two to three months to fade.

The doctor decides what is right for you. A prescription is written only when one is appropriate.

When a chat is not enough

  • A mole or dark spot that is new, growing, changing colour or bleeding. Show it to a doctor in person this week.

Questions

Can melasma be cured?
Melasma can be faded and kept under control, but it tends to return with sun and hormones. Daily sunscreen is the part of the plan that keeps it away.
How long will dark spots take to fade?
Acne marks and tan usually fade over two to three months with sunscreen and a treatment. Melasma is slower. The doctor sets a check-back date.
Are strong creams from a parlour safe?
Many contain steroids or other strong medicines that thin the skin and cause more pigmentation once stopped. Show the doctor the tube, or tell them you do not know what was in it.
Who will I be speaking to?
Dr. Rohini K (MBBS, IFAAM (Aesthetic Medicine), Fellowship in Cosmetic Dermatology), the skin and hair doctor on PingMeDoc™'s teleconsultation panel. Every skin and hair consult booked through Chamak goes to the skin doctor, day or night, with a reply usually within 30 minutes.
What does it cost?
₹299 for a chat consult. Audio or video from ₹499. The price is shown before you pay and covers the written plan and 48 hours of follow-up questions in the same chat.
Will I get a prescription?
Only if the doctor finds one appropriate. When issued, it is a digital prescription sent in the chat and on WhatsApp, valid at any pharmacy.
Where does the consult happen?
Booking, payment and the chat run on www.pingmedoc.com, our teleconsultation site. You are asked for a phone number and a one-time code at payment, and nothing before that. Chamak and PingMeDoc are the same company.
